Consultancy

Beauline have been involved in the fishing industry for over two decades.

Over that time we have worked with every size and type of longline fishing operation, so we know a thing or two about not only how to deploy and manage automated longline systems, Trawl, Pots & Fish Traps, but how to identify opportunities and help reshape fishing businesses to optimise returns and achieve long term sustainability.

Our Director of Systems, Warwick Beauchamp, has been personally involved in installing and managing the majority of longline operations in Australasia on behalf of Mustad Autoline for over twenty years. He knows everything there is to know about the machinery required to maximise returns, and can advise on set-up options and investment levels over time to suit your business priorities.

Andy Smith works as a fisheries advocate, assisting Beauline with projects. Andy has over 47 year in the fishing industry , mainly at sea as captain / fishing master in many oceans and places of the world including Antarctica , in many types of fisheries and vessels including Trawling , long lining , Purse seining. “I have been a owner operator of vessels and been Involved in Project development, fishing vessel purchases , refits , surveys ,relocation and deliveries globally . Optimising catch rates

There’s a lot of moving parts on any boat. Ensuring your are maximising your fish catch per hook in the water, and minimising costs incurred, can require analysis and optimisation of on-boat behaviour and system performance. We look at all variables onboard to find efficiencies - challenging assumptions that might be costing you money, by analysing and reconciling variables like crew loadings, bait types, cost of bait, fuel consumption rates, machinery performance rates, target species etc.

Mixed fishing

Increasingly we’re seeing boats installing multiple catch systems - trawl, longline and other fishing systems - to maximise returns by targeting multiple species over the course of any given season or year. These additional alternative catch systems help increase the return on investment of your boat, create more stable, sustainable jobs for crew and staff onshore and provide more consistent business income over time.

Unlocking new value

There is plenty of opportunity in quota management to target new species of fish and to extract value from under-utilised quota assets. Obviously much is dependant on the location of your operation, the nature of your patch of water, the capabilities of your vessel and the market you are selling into. We see economic opportunities in quota levels all the time, and are well-placed of offer independent advice that can unlock significant value by targeting different or new species.
